WHEREAS, Community-Oriented Policing and Problem-Solving (CO PPS) is ai
philosophy, management style, and organizational strategy of the
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, COIPPS promotes proactive problemin- solving and police-community
partnerships to address the causes of crime and fear; and
WHEREAS, COIPIPS focuses on neighborhood maintenance and support, and
advancing creative and comprehensive solutions for influxes of
criminal activity such as gangs, drugs, and hate crimes; and
WHEREAS, COPPS is tough on crime; it provides a more comprehensive,
collaborative, and thus more effective approach to policing.
IVO , THEREFORE, Mayor Barbara S. Falvey and the Edmonds City Council do
resolve that Community-oriented Policing and Pn oblenrn- Solving shall be the
formal philosophy of policing for the City of Ecymonds.
