The ADU portion of your residence is in code compliance. As far as the City is concerned the ADU is signed off
and enforcement is stopped. The notation on the hot water tank in the adjacent rec room was given to pursuant
to UPC WAC 509.0 which states, 'water heaters which depend on the combustion of fuel for heat shall not be
installed in a room used or designed to be used for sleeping purposes, b athrooms, clothes closets, or in a closet
or other confined space opening into a bath or bedroom.' Thus, the rec room shall not be used as a sleeping
