The Fire Department provides the following comments and corrections in accordance with the 2003
International Fire Code and Edmonds Community Development Code:
Shts A-101A&B
1. Fire apparatus access:
a. Call out fire access lane along north roadway continuing to approved turnaround at
the location between Bldg B & Mod H-1. Show clear widths and turn radii along FD
access routes around site where existing. Use COE Standard detail E2.5

b. Call out fire access lane from north roadway continuing to approved turnaround at
the location of existing trash/recycle area. Show clear widths and turn radii along FD
access routes around site where existing. Use COE Standard detail E2.5

c. Provide vertical clearance no less than 13’6” along fire service access lanes.
d. Approved signs or other markings shall be provided and maintained for fire
apparatus access roads to identify such roads and prohibit the obstruction thereof or
both.
e. Fire service access lanes shall be striped with 4” yellow perimeter striping and
identified with words “FIRE LANE – NO PARKING”. Letters shall be 12” high with 2”
stroke spaced each 50 lineal feet on alternating insides of lane.
2. Fire hydrants
a. Show existing on-site fire hydrants.
b. FH location shall be identified by the installation of approved blue pavement
reflective markers in the center of drive aisle perpendicular to the hydrant location.
c. Existing private hydrants serving this project shall be in accordance with COE
standard detail E7.1.
