This review is conducted in accordance with 2012 IFC and Edmonds Community Development
Code.
1.By the letter of the citys Fire and Building codes in a comprehensive analysis, your
proposal for NONSEPARATED uses dtd Jun 30, 2015 for I4 and B occupancies will have
merit, see Building Department comments for resubmittal requirements. However, Trike
Stop daycare requires licensing through Department of Early Learning (DEL), as
approved through the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM). An Edmonds Certificate
of Occupancy offered upon this design may not necessarily meet licensing approval. I
invite you to inquire with OSFM directly to assure that this building design method will
not countermand Trike Stops ability to operate.
2.Sheet A-1 Identify Submittals #1 and #2 with reference to their premises identification:
23105 and 23107.
3.Sheet A-1 FIRE ALARM PERMIT will be required for manual fire alarm system and
occupant notification throughout fire area. Emergency voice notification per IFC
907.5.2.2 will be required throughout child care areas.
4.Will there be any napping areas/activities for the purposes of carbon monoxide
detection? IFC 908.7(WA) Exc 1.
5.Sheet A-1 Stripe NO PARKING FIRE LANE along front parking area and along west end
of infant building and east end of childrens building.
6.Sheet A-2 & 3 Provide four 2A:10B:C minimum rated portable fire extinguishers
distributed near building exits and kitchen.
7.Sheet A-4 & 5 Design second exit path through intervening space and provide EXIT signs
along this path.
8.Sheet A-4 & 5 Provide emergency pathway lighting in HALLWAYS, along exit paths, and
in each child care area.

9.Post building address of a size relative to, and legible from, 100 Ave W. on contrasting
background.
10.Add Knoxbox for access to fire alarm controls. Order hinged type box through
http://knoxbox.com for Snohomish County Fire District #1.
