Westfall Re: Trike Stop Daycare Center — Westgate EBP BLD20150891 (Infant Building) Dear John: AUG 3 12015 r,WUJL01NQ " ' ? ��N I am responding in letter form with references as noted to a Drawing Resubmittal, dated 28 August 2015 with all revisions noted by "cloud" and Revision Delta No. 1, in response to your initial comments on behalf of the Office of the Fire Marshal for the above referenced project. I make reference to the Memorandum from your office dated 6 August 2015, and my responses make reference to those Item Numbers. Item No. 1: Sheet A-1: The Sheet Index has been modified to distinguish between the building addresses for "Submittal No. 1 and Submittal No. 2". Item No. 2: Sheet A-1: The Street Address in Property Description has been corrected. Item No. 3: Sheet A-1: Please refer to a new section of notes identified as "Requirements for Permit from City of Edmonds Office of the Fire Marshal" under Project Scope of Work. Fire Alarm Permit required to be secured by the General Contractor. Item No. 4: Sheet A-2: The FAU unit as shown in the Mechanical Room is an existing FAU which is to remain in working condition. It is a Luxaire Model PCDC-LD14N105A unit with a 105,000 BTU rating and appears to be properly vented. I have identified it with a new Keynote 19 which is described in the modified Floor Plan Notes Legend. I have also added a note regarding the requirement for the General Contractor to coordinate with the Fire Marshal to determine if code -compliant CO detection is already provided, and if not, to determine with the Fire Marshal the number and location of detection units to be newly installed. Item No. 5: Sheet A-2: I have added a note to clarify the relative elevation differential at Door DA105, the secondary exit door from Infants: 6 Wks -12 Mo. The existing conditions at that location will allow for a new concrete stoop to be located there without a step transition, as the finish a.c. paving elevation is approximately 2" below finish floor. The far edge of the concrete stoop can flush join with existing a.c. paving. A note of clarification has been provided at that location. Letter to Fire Marshal, John J. Westfall, City of Edmonds Trike Stop Daycare Center - Westgate EBP 28 August 2015 Page 2 Please note that the official Plan Check Response No. 1 Drawing Resubmittal, dated 28 August 2015, indicates a new Exit Deck solution to serve as the secondary exit from Rooms A107 and A109 with Doors DA102 and DA104 on the south side of the building as shown on Sheet A-2. The relative elevations of existing finish floor and finish surface at the rear parking area are such that we can construct the Exit Deck so that it daylights and will flush join with the existing a.c. paving as shown. The Exit Deck is dimensioned and referenced with Construction Details 11/A-11 and 12/A-11. Item No. 6: Sheet A-2: I have modified the ratio of occupants per square foot from 35 to 50 for the Infants: 6Wk-12Mo. The original calculation was what the State of WA Daycare Licensing requires for infant ages this young, but in order to comply with ratios as required by IBC, the number of children in the room has been increased to 12. An additional staff count of (2) for this age group will increase the subtotal to 14; and the Building Total Occupancy is now calculated at 39 occupants. The Occupancy Load Calculation on Sheet A-2 has been modified as well to include these new totals. All related revisions have been identified by revision "cloud" and Delta No. 1. Items No. 7, 8, and 9: Please refer to Sheet A-1 and the new notes section identified as "Requirements for Permit from City of Edmonds Office of the Fire Marshal", in the Project Scope of Work section.
