RESOLUTION NO. 1466 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, <br />WASHINGTON, TO CONTINUE THE EMERGENCY SICK LEAVE <br />BENEFITS OF THE CITY'S FAMILIES FIRST CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE <br />ACT POLICY THROUGH JUNE 30, 2021 <br />WHEREAS, the City enacted its Families First Coronavirus Response Act Policy (hereinafter <br />"Policy") in April 2, 2020; and <br />WHEREAS, the federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act, upon which the Policy is <br />based, expires by its terms on December 31, 2020; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the public interest to continue to <br />provide City employees with the emergency sick leave benefits provided by the Policy for an <br />additional six months, unless the federal government enacts new legislation providing for such <br />benefits before that date; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, HEREBY <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Emergency Sick Leave provisions of the City's Families First Coronavirus <br />Response Act Policy, enacted in April 1, 2020, will continue in effect through June 30, 2021, <br />unless the federal government enacts new legislation providing for such benefits before that date. <br />The remainder of the Policy shall expire by its terms on December 31, 2020. <br />Section 2. The references to "December 31, 2020" in the "Carryover; Termination of <br />Benefit" section of the Emergency Sick Leave provisions of the Policy are hereby revised to read <br />"June 30, 2021." In the event the federal government enacts new legislation providing for <br />emergency sick leave benefits such as those provided for in the Policy, the remainder of the <br />Policy will terminate as of the effective date of the federal legislation.
