Following a 6:30 p.m. interview of a candidate for the position of Administrative Services Director, the
Edmonds City Council meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Haakenson in the Council
Chambers, 250 5"' Avenue North, Edmonds. The meeting was opened with the flag salute.

Director Council President Earling stated that the City Council had an opportunity earlier this evening to
interview a candidate for the Administrative Services Director position. The candidate has very high
qualifications and would bring a great wealth of experience to the City. He is currently serving as the
Finance Director for Snohomish County, and in that role has worked with the City on the Edmonds
Public Facilities District.
COUNCIL PRESIDENT EARLING MOVED, SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER MARIN, TO
PLACE THE NAME OF DAN CLEMENTS IN NOMINATION FOR THE POSITION OF
ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DIRECTOR. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Mayor Haakenson commented that he is extremely happy to have a man of Mr. Clements' caliber to fill
this role, and he looks forward to the day that he begins working with Edmonds. Mayor Haakenson also
expressed appreciation to individuals who served on the interview team including Councilmember Jeff
Wilson, Jim Carlson, CPA, Jim Trainer, CPA, Lynnwood Finance Director Mike Bailey, citizen
Josephine Lloyd, as well as a number of department directors and staff.
Mayor Haakenson wished Councilmember Petso a happy birthday.
At 7:03 p.m., Mayor Haakenson adjourned the meeting. The Finance Committee met following the full
Council meeting. The Public Safety and Community Services/Development Services Committees did not
meet this evening.
