02/13/1990 City CouncilTHESE MINUTES SUBJECT TO FEBRUARY 27, 1990 APPROVAL EDMONDS CITY COUNCIL MINUTES DINNER MEETING WITH HEKINAN OFFICIALS, FEBRUARY 13, 1990 The special meeting of the Edmonds City Council was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Council Presi- dent, John Nordquist, at Fishhouse Charlies, 144 Railroad Avenue, Edmonds. PRESENT Larry Naughten, Mayor John Nordquist, Council President Steve Dwyer, Councilmember Roger Hertrich, Councilmember Jo -Anne Jaech, Councilmember Jeff Palmer, Councilmember Jack Wilson, Councilmember Barbara Mehlert, Council Assistant, Minute Taker ABSENT Bill Kasper, Councilmember HEKINAN CITY DELEGATION Mr. Shinzo Kato, President Mr. Akio Sumiya, Deputy Mayor Mr. Hisakichi Hawegawa, Assemblyperson Mr. Yasuji Sumiya, Assemblyperson Mr. Elichi Sugiura, Assemblyperson Mr. Sunao Ikuta, Assemblyperson Ms. Futami Imai, Assemblyperson Mr. Kenji Nagasaka, Director of City Assembly Secretariat Mr. Kiyohito Tsutsui, Staff of Personnel and Secretariat Section, in charge of International Affairs John Nordquist, Council President, re -introduced members of the City Council to the Hekinan City Delegation, and in turn, each member of the Delegation re -introduced themselves to Edmonds City Council. Mr. Kiyohito Tsutsui, Staff of Personnel and Secretarial Section, in charge of International Affairs, presented each Councilmember with a ceremonial coat. Following this presentation, the Hekinan Delegation expressed their appreciation for the hospitality they have received from the Edmonds City Council, Mayor Naughten, and members of the Sister City Commission. Council Presi- dent Nordquist said that they looked forward to working with the Hekinan Delegation, and thanked them for being part of Edmonds Centennial Celebration. Mayor Naughten also thanked the Hekinan Delegation for their part in the Centennial Celebration, and expressed his gratitude to them. The formal meeting adjourned at 7:00, with dinner following. During the course of the evening, there were small gift exchanges between the two Councils, with Mayor Naughten and Council President Nordquist introducing various speakers from the Hekinan Delegation and members of the Sister City Commission.
