Ordinance 33510006.900000 WSS /gjz 1/12/01 3/15/01 ORDINANCE NO. 3351 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AMENDING PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 3340 ANNUAL SALARY ORDINANCE FOR BUDGET YEAR 2001 TO PERMIT ADDITIONAL FLEXIBILITY TO THE MAYOR REGARDING THE GRANTING OF WAGE INCREASES TO THE POSITION OF POLICE CHIEF, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. WHEREAS, the Mayor has requested additional authority to approve a merit increase for the position of police chief in excess of the five percent (5 %) maximum previously established by ordinance, and WHEREAS, the City Council deems such increase to be appropriate, so long as any increase remains within the salary range for the position as established by the City Council, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1 of the annual salary ordinance for budget year 2001, Ordinance No. 3340, is hereby amended to permit a merit increase in the position of police chief of up to ten percent (10 %), provided, however, that any increase shall be within the range established for such position by the annual salary ordinance. Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifi- cally delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect {WSS463863.DOC;1/00006.900000/} - 1 - five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the title.
