ORDINANCE NO. 3363
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE EDMONDS COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT CODE, SECTION 17.50.020 ESTABLISHING
PARKING SPACE REQUIREMENTS SUBSECTION (A)
RELATING TO RESIDENTIAL PARKING REQUIREMENTS,
AND FIXING.A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME
EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, the City staff initiated review of the City's residential parking
requirements and found that such requirements are at odds with those existing in many
surrounding communities; and
WHEREAS, the Edmonds Planning Board has considered this matter and
recommended to the City Council that such parking requirements be changed; and
WHEREAS, the City Council held a public hearing and based upon the
recommendation of its Planning Board and the testimony presented, deems it to be in the public
interest to amend such requirements, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Edmonds Community Development Code, Section 17.50.020
Parking Space Requirements, (A) Residential is hereby amended to read as follows:
17.50.020 Parking space requirements.
A. Residential.
1. Single - family dwellings: two spaces per dwelling unit,
except within the Downtown Business Area:

Multiple residential according to the following table, except within
the Downtown Business Area:
Required parking spaces
Type of multiple dwelling unit per dwelling unit
Studio 1.2
1 Bedroom 1.5
2 Bedrooms 1.8
3+ Bedrooms 2.0
2. Within the Downtown Business Area:
Single - family dwellings: one space per dwelling unit;
Multiple residential; two spaces per dwelling unit.
Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifi-
cally delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect
five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the
title.
