Ordinance 33840006.900000 WSS /gjz 12/05/01 ORDINANCE NO. 3384 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF EDMONDS CITY CODE CHAPTER 2.15.060 REGARDING THE APPOINTMENT OF JUDGES PRO TEM OF THE EDMONDS MUNICIPAL COURT, PROVIDING FOR COMPENSATION THEREOF, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. WHEREAS, the City has adopted a municipal court system by City Code, and WHEREAS, the statutory provisions governing the appointment of judges pro tem have been amended, and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to amend the provisions of City Code to conform to those of state statute, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Edmonds City Code Section 2.15.060 Judges Pro Tem is hereby amended to read as follows: 2.15.060 Judges Pro Tem. The municipal court judge may designate one or more persons as judges pro tempore to serve in the absence or disability of the duly appointed judge of the court, subsequent to the filing of an affidavit of prejudice, or in addition to the appointed judge when the administration of justice and accomplishment of the work of the court make it necessary. Qualifications of the judges pro tempore shall be the same as for judges appointed pursuant to ECC 2.15.030. Judges pro tempore shall have all the powers of the duly appointed judge when serving as judges pro tempore of the court. Before entering on his or her duties, each judge pro tempore shall take, subscribe and file an oath as is taken by the duly appointed {WSS499090.DOC;1/00006.900000/1 - 1 - judge. Judges pro tempore shall receive such compensation as shall be fixed by ordinance. Section 2. For fiscal year 2002, and continuing until such time as compensation shall be amended by ordinance of the City, judges pro tempore shall be compensated Thirty -Five Dollars ($35.00) an hour for infraction and mitigation hearings and Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per hour for their service as municipal judge during normal court hours. Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifically delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the title.
