Motion carried. Specification have been prepared by the Engineer for the seal -coating of the streets-Twrth of Main street, estimated amount of-,�6200. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that we call for bids on seal -coating as outlined by the Engineer, to be submitted July 6. 'Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman lcGibbon and seconded 'by councilman Tucker that the park board spent �;250 for a float at the city dock. Motion carried. The Park committee recommended that the lease of the Edmonds fide Lands be accepted at as low aprice as it dQ.=Id ,be gotten for.. A. motion was made 'by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Me Ginnese that the Treasurer purchase a desk for 040. A -motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman McGibbon that the purchase of the property and assessment in Block 121 be paid from the current lxpense fund. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman McGibbon that the hazard condition of the north side of the dock be turned over to the safety committee for investigation. Motion carried. Therebeing no further business the meeting adjourned. /z ti r City Clerk . mayor July 6, 1948 The Council met in regular session with Mayor Fourtner presiding. The roll call showed the following councilmen present McGibbon, Tucker, Waggoner, McGinness, Siefert, Clausen and Maxwell. The Wa#er collectors and Treasurers reports were read. A motion was made by councilman McGibbon and seconded by councilman .uTuclkera that the bills which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. Two bids were received for the seal coating on the streets North of Main Street, one from Diesel Oil Sales Co., for $14,372.50, and the bid Trom Associated Sand & Gravel for $7630. A motion was made by councilman Tu'eker and seconded by councilman Waggoner that the bid from Associated Sand & Gravel for $7630 be accepted. A roll call vote showed all councilman in favor except Councilman Maxwell who voted no. Motion carried. Councilman Maxwell reported that the opening of the alley between FirElt 'and second avenues south of Main Street was a construction job and it would require and 1'. I. D. Diistrict to be formed. Also the vacating of the alley between Ninth and Tenth Avenues and Main and Bell streets,:t that it is not the time to vacate said property was the report of the street committee. An Easementtto lay and -maintain a water line across Dayton Street for the Great Nor�4ern Railway Co.,.was prepared by the Attorney and was authorized to^"gigned by the Mayor and Clerk by a motion made by Councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell. Motion carried. A letter was read to the Council from the Depat':.ment of Highways in which ask for an amendment to Franchise No. 1613, if the city of Edmonds does not intend to extend their water line beyond the 1000 feet of pipe which was installed south of the South City limits on Fifth Street, so that a franchise can be issued to the Olympic View water District. This was turned over to . the water committee for a report at the special meeting. Attorney Hunter read the inew lease to the council which was drawn up for the lease of the Ferry Dock for a period of five years from Jan. 1 1948 to December 31, 1953, with the rental of $400 a year. A motion was made -by .councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Maxwell that Y- this be taken up at a special meeting July 13 at 7:30. Motion carried. A motion was made by eouncilman'Tucker and seconded by councilman McGibbon that the bill . of Dr. Zretzler for $5 be paid. Motion carried. Mr. Womer was given permission to created a parking space behind the City building. Street Supt. Shirley is to haul,the trash away. The prospects of space for a testing station was referred to the Park Com- mittee by,a motion made oy eourciiman McGinness and seconded by council- man Siefert. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Wag- goner that the State Patrol be commended on their co-operation during the fourth of July celebration. Motion carried. There being no further business the meeting adjourned. July 13, 1948 The council met for,the adjourned meeting with Mayor Fourtner presiding, with the following councilmen present, McGibbon, Tucker, Siefert, Clausen and Maxwell. A -motion was made 'by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Siefert that the Lions Club be permitted to condudt their Pioneer Celebration for one week. Motion carried. After, comparing the old leases of the Perry Dock and some discussion on same a motionewas made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Clausen that 30 days be inserted in the contract instead of 90 days for the time allowed for the termination of ferry service. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman McGibbons and seconded by councilman Tucker that the lease be for two years with the option for nenewal for two years. Motion carried. The roll call showed all councilmen present except councilman McGibbon. Attorney Hunter read a letter from the ferry Co., in which they state they are willing to accept the two year leasewith the option for renewal ---for two years, but would like the 30 day termination changed to 90 days. A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Clausen that we accept the 90 day agreement. A,roll'call vote showed Tucker yes, Waggoner yes, Siefert no, McGinness no,•Clausen yes and Maxwell no, there being a vote of.;three yes -and three no Mayor Fourtner voted yes.
