Ryan 198 184 <br />December 21, 1948 <br />The Council met in regular session with -Mayor Fourtner presiding. <br />call showed all councilmen present.. <br />130 <br />70 <br />184 <br />185 <br />173 <br />16 <br />193 <br />16 <br />164 <br />Na- <br />168 <br />The roll <br />A letter was read from the Puget Sound Power & Light Co., in which they <br />state a street light has been installed at the North.dead end of Sixth <br />Avenue on November 26, 1948. <br />A letter was read from Mrs+ Paul Za.lushe in which she states the garLaage dump <br />will be filled up within a month, and asks that the city help to exterminate <br />the rats. The Clerk was asked to get in touch with a rat exttmmdattor as <br />to the cost. <br />A mot -ion, was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell <br />that the Clerk advertise for land which can be leased for garbage dumping <br />purposes. Motion.oarried. <br />A motion.was made by councilman Tucker and seoonded by councilman McGinness <br />Ordinance No. 584 be adopted and published. Councilman Siefert made an <br />amendment to the motion that the Mayor appoint a committee to meet with the <br />tavern owners to investigate the situation. No second to the motion. <br />Councilman Tucker made m ; n t f1 u lause to exempt charitable <br />orginations from this t �.�ig <br />1 46 f ° n the question showed all <br />councilmen in favor except choSiefert who voted no. <br />Councilman McGibbon stated that residents living outside the city limits <br />and want fire protection to get in touch with the safety committee. <br />A motion wqe made by councilman McGibbon and seconded by councilman Maxwell <br />that the resolution authorizing the work on the testing strip, be changed <br />from the location on Maple street to the City Park property on north thirdf <br />with the recinding of the previous action. ' <br />A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell <br />that the Clerk call for bids on a concrete slab at the city park. Motion <br />carried. <br />A:motion was made by councilman McGibbon and seconded by councilman Tucker <br />that the money which was left over from the Dayton street Outfall be used <br />for Automobile testing station at the City park. Motion carried. <br />A' motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell <br />that the alley #etween Third & fourth in back of eon Phillips property <br />be blaektopped,on the 40/60% basis. Councilman siefert made an amendement <br />to the motion to turn this over to the street committee.. ii. vote of the <br />council showed the council was not in favor of doing this work. <br />A°motion was made by councilman Tucker and weconded by councilman McGibbon <br />that the street committee investigate the sidewalk adjoining the Phillips <br />property and R-ichard.Brown property and to report to the council as to <br />what can be done.
