The.Council met for its regular session with Mayor'McGibbon presiding. The roll
call , show ed the following councilmen present Tuson, Talen, Kincaid, Maxwell', McGinness
and Cloud.
The wateroollectors report wqs read to the. Council
A fetter'was read from Don Phillips, asking for permission to break down the curb as
he plans to make a driveway to his garage. This was turned over to the street com-
mittee.
A letter was read from the Library Board in regards to repairs of the building also
the heating of the library.
An.agreement drawn up by the Fire District No. 1 was read to the Council and turned .over
to Attorney Holte for a report back to the Council at our next meeting.
The'Clerk 3feported a report has been received from the Tax Commission, From this report
it states the City of Edmonds owes the tax commission $1,526.40.
One bid was received for a police car, from Hopper Chevrolet Co.,$2280.37 less trade-in
1952'Chevrolet Sedan 881.37, making $1,399.00 plus sales tax. A motion was made by
Councilman Maxwell -and seconded by councilman Kincaid that we accept the bid from
Hopper Chevrolet Co., Motion carried. .
A motion was madeby Councilman Kincaid and seconded by councilman McGinness that
Ordinance #662; fixing the rate of interest on L.- I. D. #74., at 4J % be passed.

Engineer Reid Stated he will contact the property owners from Fifth Avenue to Six and t
half street South of Homeland Drive in regards to a 30 foot strip of property for a roadway.
A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Kincaid that in event
the City is presented with 30 feet of property for a right -of way, the city will accept it.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by councilman Talen that progress
payment No. 1, in the amount of $9734X7 be paid to Harold Kaeser, for the -Intercepter
Sewer, which is 95% of the payment due minus 15%, withheld for 30 days. to Lion carried.
A mo-tion'was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tuson that the Mayor
notify P. U. D., in regards to installing the new lights, upon recommendation from
the Safety committee, everything west of Sixth Avenue be given first priority. Motion
Carried.
A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Kincaid that the
bills which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants bedrawn
on , the proper funds, notion carried.
Councilman McGinness showed the council a new type of street signs.

The Council met for its regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The Roll
calls howdd the following councilmen present'Tuson, Talen, Kincaid, Maxwell, Bishop
and Cloud.
A petition for the improvement on Sprague Street from Eighth to Ninth Avenue was
turned over to Attorney Holte for checking. A motion was made by Councilman Maxwell
and seconded by councilman Kincaid that a resolution of Intention be dra= up, to set
up a Local Improvement District.- Motion carried.
A -letter was read to the Council in which the property owners ask for the vacation
of Hemlock street .from Eighth to Ninth Avenue; subject'to retention of a 10 foot
wide easement for utility purposes, was referred to the street Committee.
A-motiori,was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by Councilman Tuson that
an exception to. the building code be made to'allow Mr. Larsen, to put shingles
on the addition to his house, to conform with the rest of the building. Motion
carried.
The Engineer was asked to check on the feasibility of a 60 foot street from Alder
street to Walnut street, at his earliest possible date.
Three bids were received for' six inch Cast Iron pipe, one'from United States Pipe
and Foundry at'a price of $1.77 per foot, F. 0. B.-Seattle,, with delivery within
30 to 40 days, a bid from Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe, for $1.795 per foot,
with delivery within 30 days, and a bid from Pacific Water Works Supply for $1.88
f:o.bQ Edmonds, with 30 days for delivery. A motion was made by councilman Tuson
and seconded by councilman Maxwell +hat w e accept the bid from United States Pipe
and Foundry. Motion carried.
Attorney Holte reported that the Fire Chief "tell and he are not in favor in entering
into an agreement with Fire District No. 11 as' we are available if they need us. A
motion was made by councilman Kincaid and seconded by councilman Maxwell that Mayor
McGibbon write to the Fire District on this decission. M tion carried.
Councilman Tuson made a report to the Council on the repairing of the building and
changing of the heating system.
Mayor McGibbon named his committee for the next year, Water committee, Tuson Chairman,
Talen and'Cloud. Street Committee Maxwell, Chairman, Bishop and Sommerseth. Safety
Committee,` Talen, Chairman., -Maxwell and Cloud. Park Committee Kincaid, Sommerseth, and
Lawson. ..Auditing Committee, Tuson, Maxwell, and T len. Finance Severson, Mayor McGibbon
and Bishop.' Administative' and Accounting, Severson, Kincaid and Mayor McGibbon.
Building and Maintenance, Tuson, Maxwell and Sommerseth.
A motion was made by c ouncilaman Tuson and seconded by councilman Maxwell that Attorney
Holte write a letter of appreciation to Councilman McGinness, who is leaving the
office of Councilman at large. Motion carried.
A motion was,made by councilman Maxwell and seconded b y councilman Talen that we accept
the street grade of Daley streetfrom ninth to Eleventh avenue. Motion carried.
The street grade'of Eighth Avenue from Dayton street to Maple street was referred to the str
street committee.

.the sewer along Sunset avenue as substantially complete. Motion carried.

sprinkling rates be the same as last year at.150 over the mini -mum charge. Motion carried.

June 7, 1955
The -,Council met for its regular session w ith :Councilman Maxwell serving as Mayor
pro-tem. The roll call showed the following councilmen present after the new
councilmen signed their oath of offices,,Tuson, Talen, Kincaid, Cloud, Maxwell
and Sommerseth.
The water collectors and Treasurer reports were read to the council.
Mr. Usher, Trafton and Mrs. Schneider came before the council in regards to the
water that comes in their buildings, when we have a flash rain. This was turned over
to the water Committee and Engineer for investigation.
Mr. Camandona, operator of the Suburban Septic Tank Service, Came before the Council
and asked for permission to use our sewer for emptying their trucks. A motion was
made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman'Kincaid that the City issue no
more permits to dump in our sewers. Motion carried.
Attorney Hall reported to the Council, that because of over -payment to the state
