19561204 City Council MinutesDecember 4, 1956 The Council met for its regular session with Mayor Maxwell presiding. The roll call showed the following councilmen present Tuson, Talen, Cloud, Bishop, Steed and Sommerseth. This being the night set for a hearing on annexating of a portion of Govt, Lot 4, Sec 13, Twp 27 N, T. 3 EWM, described as follows: Beginning at'a point 588 ft W and 81.4 ft N of the S quarter corner of section 13; th N 258.5 ft; th N 71048, W along the N Margin of the John Kannair Tract and said line produced to the Inner -Harbor line, thence SW'ly along said Inner Harbor line'to a point of intersection with a line bearing N710441"W"firom the pt of beginning; th S 71044' E along the existing City Limits to the p.o.b. The petition being signed by the owners of more than 75% of the assessed value of the property a motion was'made by councilman Bishop and seconded by Council man Sommerseth that Ordinance.No: 686 annexating this, property to the City of Edmonds, be passed. Motion carried. A motion was made by councilman Talen and seconded by Councilman Bishop that a hearing for annexation a.portion of Alderwood Manor tract No.9 be set for December 18. Motion carried. Mr. Gilday and Shear, representatives fromthe West Coast Telephone Co., came before the Council in response to.a requestferom the Council in regards to a 1% Utility tax, We: were Iola that this tax would amount to approximately $600 per year, and the services they now render the City amounts to $100 per month. '.. Mr. Richard Mooney, who resided at*934 Sprague street came before the Council in t�agards to the street work done on L. I. D. #77, after some discussion Mayor Maxwell receommended that the stredt committee and the Engineer investig ate the condition with the property owner along Sprague street. A motion was made bSreCooncilman Talen and seconded by Councilman Cloud that ve call for bids for a City Emergency vehicle. Bids to be opened January 2. Motion carried. Mayor Maxwell made the appointment of Dona�awson,as City Supervisor to start January 1. A motion was made by Councilors, seconded by Councilman Talen that the appointment be confirmed by the Council. Aion carried. Mayor Maxwell appointdd Fred Wil-Ie- fin on the water dept. and Floyd Nissen Foreman on the Street Departan�fity s p lntments were confirmed by the Council by a motion made by Councilman Talen and seconded by Councilman Tuson. Motion carried. The watereollectors report was read to the Council. A motion was made by Councilman Sommerseth and seconded by Councilman Steed that the bills as approved by the Auditing Committee be allowed and warrants be drawn on the proper funds. Motion carried. A claim for damages to his car in the amount of $44.38, which occured at 925-10th avenue`' Mr. W. Hansen the owner of the car, was turned over to Attorney Holte. Also a claim for damages to Mts. Virginia Blandin, was turned over to Attorney Holte. Mayor Maxwell reported that the report on our Sewer Disposal plant, had been sent into the Poblution Control Commission and a letter was received that they had received the report.
