COUNCILMAN NORDQUIST <br />MOTION: MOVED, SECONDED BY COUNCILWOMAN...ALLEN, TO.APPROVE THE BALANCE OF THE CONSENT AGEIVDA.-'MOTION CARPIED. <br />The approved portion of the Consent Agenda included the following: <br />(A) Roll call. <br />(B) Approval of Minutes of.February 26, 1980. <br />(C) Report on bids opened February.27 for construction of fishing pier parking lot and award <br />of.contract to Knowles Construction Co. in the amount of $19,114.59, including sales tax. <br />(E). Adoption of Ordinance 2124, amending the 1980 budget. (Passed with six affirmative votes. <br />• Five affirmative votes needed because of the emergency clause in the ordinance.) <br />REPORT ON.BIDS OPENED FEBRUARY 27- FOR.PURCHASE OF VEHICLES [Item (D) on Consent Agenda] <br />Councilman Gould made several inquiries about the bids and the types of vehicles being purchased. <br />Bid documents had been six automobile dealerships within the immediate area, but <br />only one bid had been received. An additional bid had been received one hour after the bid opening <br />but was not.acceptable at that time and was not opened. Councilman Gould was concerned that vehicles <br />be fuel .efficient and he said the.Staff.should be put on notice that this will be a consideration in <br />the purchase of.all vehicles. ._Public Works Director Fred Herzberg responded that they select the <br />MOTION: smallest vehicle that will do the.required job. COUNCILMAN GOULD MOVED, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN <br />NORDQUIST, TO APPROVE.ITEM (D) ON THE CONSENT AGENDA, AWARDING THE BID FOR PURCHASE OF VEHICLES TO <br />HARRIS FORD, INC. IN THE.AMOUNT OF $29,321.84,.INCLUDING SALES:TAX. MOTION CARRIED. <br />MAYOR <br />Mayor Harrison asked for confirmation of his appointment of Jerry Ward to the Edmonds Arts Commission, <br />MOTION:' noting that Mr. -Ward is the new president•of the Driftwood Players. COUNCILMAN NORDQUIST MOVED, <br />SECONDED:BY COUNCILMAN GOULD, TO.CONFIRM THE MAYOR'S APPOINTMENT -OF JERRY WARD TO POSITION 4 ON*THE <br />EDMONDS ARTS COMMISSION, TERM TO EXPIRE DECEMBER 31, 1981.. MOTION. CARRIED. <br />Mayor Harrison advised that a request.had come from Irish Parades Inc., a'group organized to.provide <br />an annual St...Patrick's Day., asking that.:the.City provide liability insurance for <br />the group for that one day. This could be -done by obtaining a.r.ider:to the City's'policy, at a cost <br />of"$274..°It would cost Irish Parades Inc. $825 to buy a liability policy for that day. Mayor <br />MOTION: Harrison recommended.that the City co-sponsor.the parade and carry the insurance.
