The i3 line redefines installation ease with its plug-in design. This allows an installer to pre -wire bases (included with heads). The large wire entry port and in -line terminals provide ample room for neatly routing the wiring inside the base. The base accommodates a variety of back box mounting methods as well as direct mounting with drywall anchors. To complete the installation, i3 heads plug into the base with a simple Stop-Drop'N Lock" action. Intelligence. i3 detectors offer a number of intelligent features to simplify testing and maintenance. Drift compensation and smoothing algorithms are standard with the i3 line to minimize nuisance alarms. 2-wire i3 detectors can generate a remote LED - indicated maintenance signal when connected to the 2W-MOD2 loop test/maintenance module or a panel equipped with the i3 protocol. The SENS-RDR, a wireless device, displays the sensitivityof 13 detectors in terms of percent -per -foot obscuration. Instant inspection. The i3 series provides wide-angle red and green LED indicators for instant inspection of the detector's condition: normal standby, out -of -sensitivity, alarm, or freeze trouble. When connected to the 2W-MOD2 loop test/maintenance module or a panel with the i3 protocol, the EZ Walk loop test feature is available on 2-wire i3 detectors. This feature verifies the initiating loop wiring by providing LED status indication at each detector. LAURA M. HALL MAYOR Upon my survey.it was noted. that areas of your building may be left with virtually no light in a black -out emergency. This would severely hinder egress for occupants. Persons unfamiliar with your buildings may as well become confused due to the lack of exiting signage leading the way to safety. In the current Uniform Building Code (UBC) and Uniform Fire Code (UFC), both emergency lighting and exiting signage are required for new multi -family type dwellings where two separate exits from a floor are required. My recommendations to you and the Executive Homeowner's Association address both systems. Both systems will work together in allowing a person in an emergency situation to quickly and safely exit either of your buildings. Emergency lighting will require house power at the installation site. This is due to the function of maintaining 'a charge to batteries which will power the lamps in an outage. I concur with your thoughts regarding the twin -lamp fixture.. This would allow bi- directional coverage, increasing the area of exitway illumination. Exit signage may be illuminated in two ways. In the first case, internal lamps from house wiring illuminate the "EXIT" sign. Batteries back-up to provide continued illumination during power outages. This type would also require house wiring at the installation site. • Incorporated August 11, 1890 • Sister Cities International — Hekinan, Japan A different Exit sign may be a self -luminous type, constructed of a material which retains it's luminescence after emergency darkness arrives. This allows the "EXIT" to be quickly located for a period of time, allowing occupant escape. Enclosure 1 is a rough sketch of your building(s) with recommended locations for these fixtures. The arrows show the direction of illumination from each sign or fixtures. Enclosure 2 is a photocopy of Sections 12.110 and 12.111 of the UFC which address system requirements. I am available to answer questions regarding this proposal or any other fire -related matters. Feel free to call me at 771-0215 during business hours, Monday through Friday. I wish to encourage installation of these systems for the safety of you,. your _. Association and your loved ones. Stay Fire -Safe! Scott Re:- Fire Dept. letter of May 6, 1982' Dear Mr. Scott: In accordance with your request of May 12, 1982, I have checked with Mr. Stan Olsen of the Edmonds Fire Dept. and he assured me, we are in compliance with their code. Because the exterior doors are on an open balcony with stairways at accessible locations, there is no need for a rated door to the units. Each door has self closing hardware. Each unit has included a smoke detector. It should be noted that in order to be in compliance, the Fire Extinguishers must be serviced on an anual basis. Should you have any further questions, or input from Mr. Olsen, please contact me. RAJ/sh Enc. CITY OF E®MONDS CIVIC CENTER • EDMONDS.
