I am in receipt of your letter dated November 3, 1986 regarding a
drainage problem at the Boardwalk Apartments on 5th Avenue of
which we are one of the owners.
During construction, we experienced a severe rain storm prior to
the installation of the drain/detention system which caused H2O
run off unto the adjacent property and this only came to our
attention through the attorney of the adjacent property owner who
evidently has now contacted you regarding a new problem.
We took care of the previous problem and have tried to tell the
gentleman that if they ever experienced other problems caused by
our apartment complex to just let us know and we would take care
of it in a spirit of neighborly cooperation, but he evidently
doesn't understand this method of handling problems as I am told
he was extremely abrupt and demanding when he notified our co-
manager who also happens to be my daughter-in-law, of the
problem.
At any rate, my son, co -manager, immediately looked at the
problem and said it appeared someone had shoveled leaves and
debris over the drain inlet which he uncovered and which
hopefully will take care of this.
The system, of course, was installed according to requirements of
the City of Edmonds, inspected by same and believe me, we
definitely do not want to be in violation of the "Community
Development Code" or any other code.
This drain is on a portion of the site that we or any of our
tenants never have occasion to visit but let me assure you that
we will make a point of checking on this drain so that it does
not become "covered" again.
