RE: Failure to Connect to
Sanitary Sewer System
The Director of Public Works has advised me that despite
previous letters dated March 13, 1979 and August 15, 1979, you
have failed to connect your property to the City's sanitary
_sewer system.
Please be advised that under the ordinances of the City of
Edmonds in the event a person within 200 feet of a sanitary sewer
line fails or refuses to make connection the City make take one
or all of several -alternatives. The City may disconnect your
water service, another alternative is that the City may make
the connection itself, establish a lien against your property,
and then proceed to sell your property for collection of the
lien. The final alternative is for the City to institute a
criminal action against you for failure to comply subjecting
you to a possible fine of up to $250.00 and/or jail time of up
to 90 days. Ordinances further provide that each and every
day of continued violation may be considered a separate offense
subject to the penalties set.forth above.
I trust that the City will not have to take any of the
alternatives available to it but that you will make arrangements
for sewer connection with the Department of Public Works of
the City of Edmonds. If you have not made such arrangements to
connect your property to the City sewer system by October 5, 1979,
the City will have no choice but to enforce the terms of.its
ordinances including taking any one or all of the alternatives
listed above.
