Dear Ms. Graff:
The installation of the concrete piers was installed under my
supervision on August 1, 1989 in accordance to the foundation
plan approved by your Department. Please find attached a copy
of the soil logs for each pier and a print of the plan depicting
the pier number associated with the soil log report.
Prior to filling each hole with concrete, the depth of the hole
waw-measured to determine the length of the No. 5 rebar to be
placed in the hole. Each hole, pertinent to the concrete
curtain wall, received two No. 5 rebar with two additional feet
added to the depth of the hole fort ties to the grade beams.
Due to sluffing, hole No. 26 was abandoned, therefore pier 22
and 32 were increased to accept an excess of 24 kips per pier.
Hummel was advised to increase the strength of grade beam
between piers 22 and 32.
