In reviewing this apartment complex, it became apparent to the
Board that City parking requirements were detractingfrom the
most attractive development of this site.
The plan. as submitted, including all necessary narking spaces,.
'called for two curb cuts on 5th Avenue as well as parking stalls q
parallel to this 'street.
The Amenities Design Board recommended that the applicant
appeal to -the Board of Adjustment to waive two parking stalls

in order to:

Mrs. Block displayed..a drawing of the proposed sign, together with a colored
rendering. She said it is within the allowable signage, based on building
frontage. The.proposal was for 32 sq. ft. and the allowable is 51 sq. ft.
The upper part of the sign is a lighted readerboard and it will be placed
in a brick planter. It is located on an incline and the height of the
sign on the tallest side is 8'6". Mr. Wight suggested for the planter
portion small evergreens and something trailing to make a tracery on
the sides of the planter. It was felt the planter should have plants
that do not die back, so it will not become a receptacle for trash.
MR. LaFON MOVED, SECONDED BY MR. SELVIDGE, THAT ADB-79-76 BE APPROVED,
SUBJECT TO APPROPRIATE PLANTING 14ATERIAL FOR THE PLANTER BOX BEING

She displayed photographs, of the proposed sign, which is already in use.

Mrs. Block said the parking spaces and landscaping area were adequate
and the setbacks were satisfactory. The Board reviewed the plans.
Margaret Mitchell was present to represent the applicant and she said
new used brick and aluminum siding would be used on the exterior. She
displayed color chips of the exterior colors. There were two accesses
indicated off of 5th Ave. Mr. Rizzuto noted that the code parking
requirement is hampering the beauty of the location of this proposal.

Mrs. Block said Mrs. Wood will be opening a child activity center, selling
early learning materials specifically for young children. This will be
a retail business, not a school of any kind. Mrs. Block displayed a
`j colored rendering of the signs. She said 66 sq. ft. are allowed ier the
s building, and there is existing signage of 10 sq. ft. The proposed is
33'2 sq. ft. so the total proposed is 4312 sq. ft. There is still another
space in the building to rent. The entrance to the shop is at the back.

site plan and explained hat an extra curb cut would be necessary for
two spaces. The Ameniti!s Design Board had suggested that the applicant.
