Your addressing complaint has been forwarded to me by John Bissell of the City's
Planning Department. I have review your complaint and agree your address could be
mistaken for 1240 6 th Pl. S. r .
I have considered the problem and present you, and your neighbors, with one possible
solution. I could rename the portion of Birch Street in question (portion running north and
south that contains 8 house address in the 1200's) to Birch Place. This change would have
the least impact on the home owner and may distinguish a difference between the address
at the intersection of 6th Pl. from those in your area.
This change may require City Council approval and would require changing the street
sign( or adding a new one) at the corner of your block.
Enclosed you will find a copy a letter I will send to those on your block, notifying them of
the plan and asking for imput.

RE: Addressing
This letter is in response to a citizen's inquiry over addressing
on your block. The inquiry focused on duplicate house numbers on
Birch Street and 6th Avenue South off of Birch Street. In order to
resolve the current mail transfer problem that this person is
experiencing and to discourage future problems it appears that the
easiest solution is to rename the 1200 block of Birch Street to
Birch Place.. -.-
For your review I have included City street maps which show the
existing and proposed street name change. Please feel free to
comment directly to my department with regards to this proposal.
The processing time could be a month if the name change must be
approved by the City Council, so please respond by July 23rd so
your comments may be included in a report to the Council.
As with other street name changes in the past, the Post Office will
guarantee delivery up to one year on the old street name. If there
are any questions please contact the Building Division at 771-0220.
