Since this system, which is fairly old, does not have an FDC remember to bring your own hose and water. I will keep you posted when the system is restored. 2) Due to recent thefts at the Port of Edmonds all the gates have new locks and chains which we can not defeat with a pair of bolt cutters. I am in the process of working with the Port to get multiple lock boxes installed for quick access to the gated areas. I will let all know when this is resolved. Battery Installation: CAUTION: Installation or maintenance of batteries should be done by qualified personnel because of potential exposure to harmful DC voltages and chemicals if batteries are misconnected or damaged. The Battery Disconnect Switch located in the DC Power Plant (item 39, Figurel) should always be in the OFF position when wonting on the batteries. Further, careful attention should be given for proper battery polarity connection. Failure to connect batteries correctly could result in injury to personnel from arcing and damage to the DC rectifiers and any connected equipment that may void its warranty. Batteries are very heavy so extreme caution should be exercised when handling. The RAC774831 has 2 battery trays located at the bottom of the Equipment Compartment (See Figure 1) that can accommodate up to 150-170 Amp*hr strings per tray (shipped separately) of Valve - Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) batteries (1 string = 4x12V batteries configured with intercell connectors). Further, battery cables & temperature compensation sensors are pre -connected to the DC Power Plant making hook-up fast and easy. (There are two goretex ventilation plugs installed giving 500-1500 ml/min battery ventilation from the Equipment Compartment) 1. Open the door of the Equipment Compartment with provided key after the cabinet has been securely mounted in place and BTS Power/Ground Cables have been routed to Nokia Ultrasites. 2. Make sure the Battery Disconnect Switch (item39, Figurel) is in the OFF (down) position. 3. Gain access to the battery trays by removing the retaining bar. This can be done by unscrewing the circular fastening knobs on each side of the bar. 4. At initial installation, the two 50Amp Rectifiers (packaged in boxes) that are located in the battery trays need to be removed and stored in a safe location before populating them in the DC Power Plant (covered in Section G of this manual). 5. Battery Stringl should be installed in the bottom tray, String2 (optional) in the top tray. 6. Move the battery cables/temp sensors out of the way during battery install. The batteries should be placed so there is — h" gap between them (there should be 4 to a row). 7. Once the batteries are in the tray(s), the battery retaining bar(s) can be re -attached on the provided PEM bolts and secured down with the fastening knobs. 8. Take one of the three intercell connectors (shipped separate with each string of batteries) and cut a small notch in the outer insulation to expose —1 in2 of bare metal (see Figure 6). 9. Screw the Battery Temperature Compensation Sensor (pre -installed) onto that bare metal portion of the intercell connector and use it to connect the Batt (+) terminal to the Batt2 (-) terminal (see Figure 6). 10. Connect the other two intercell connectors as seen in Figure 6 (Batt2[+] to Batt3[-], Batt3[+] to Batt4[-]). 11. The battery connection cables (items 35 & 36, Figurel) come pre -crimped with a single -hole lug to connect to the Batt I (-) and Batt4(+) terminals for each string. For safety, they have insulating heat -shrink over the metal lugs. For each string of batteries to be installed ONLY, strip off the insulation covering the metallic lug on the battery cables. 12. Once the lugs are exposed, connect the cable labeled "Strl OV" to the Batt4(+) terminal and the cable labeled "Strl —48V" to the Battl (-) terminal. NOTE: There may be a slight spark at connection. DC Power Plant Setun & Operations: Quick start instructions and basic operation notes are listed in this document to bring the DC Power Plant on-line and do some initial programming to power the attached equipment. The "Installation & Operations Manual" for the DC Power Plant (The MCS-3000 from Delta Power) is included in hard -copy and on CD-ROM with every RAC774831 cabinet. It is strongly recommended to refer to that manual for specific instructions regarding operation and programming of the plant. The DC Plant has been pre -configured and wired (per Section 3 in Delta's Manual: "Installation") to power up to three Nokia Ultrasites via 80 Amp breakers (item 15, Figure 1). The silk-screened labels on the DC Power Plant designate which breaker feeds which Ultrasite (Bkr l to BTS I (next to RAC774831], Bkr 2 to BTS2, etc.). DC powering cables are pre -installed so verify these breakers and the Battery Disconnect Switch (item 39, Figurel) are in the OFF position before making any connections to the BTS's. It is recommended that the DC Power Plant go through initial start-up testing before connecting DC Power Cables. Rectifier Installation & Initial Start up: 1. Each RAC774831 comes equipped with two 50Amp rectifiers (ESR-48/50B's in boxes located inside the battery trays). Remove these boxes (if not done already) and unpack the rectifiers. Make sure the power switch on the rectifier is in the OFF position. NOTE: It is recommended that the packaging materials be retained in case future maintenance is required. 2. Slide the rectifiers into slots 1 & 2 (slot 1 far left, slot 6 far right) of the DC Power Plant (see Figure 1) so they are securely seated in the backplane and then slide the handle in to lock them in place. *Section 4 ("System Start -Up Procedure") should be followed In the MCS-3000 Installation & Operations Manual during the following steps. This document gives some additional information for these procedures. 3. HEALTH HAZARC INFORMATION Undor normal operating conditions, the internal material will not be hazardous to your health. Only intemally exposed material during production or case breakage or extreme heat (fire) may be hazardous to your health. A Routes of Entry: 1. Inhalation: Acid mist from formation process may cause respiratory irritation.. 2. Skin Contact: Acid may cause irritation, burns and/or ulceration. 3. Skin Absorption Not a significant route of entry. 4. Eye Contact: Acid may cause sever irritation, burns, cornea damage andlor blindness, 5. Ingestion: Acid may cause irritation of mouth, throat, esophagus and stomach. B Signs and Symptoms of Over Exposure: 1. Acute Effects: Over exposure to lead may lead to loss of appetite, constipation, sleeplessness and fatigue. Over exposure to acid may lead to skin irritation, corneal damage of the eyes and upper respiratory system. 2. Chronic Effects: Lead and its components may cause damage to kidneys and nervous system. Acid and its components may cause lung damage and pulmonary conditions. 3. Potential to Cause Cancer: The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified "strong inorganic acid mist containing sulfuric acid" as a Category 1 carcinogen, a substance that is carcinogenic to humans. This classification does not apply to liquid forms of sulfuric acid or sulfuric acid solutions contained within a battery. Inorganic acid mist is not generated under normal use of this product. Misuse of the product, such as overcharging, may however result in the generation of sulfuric acid mist. G Emergency and First Aid Procedures: 1. Inhalation: Remove from exposure and apply oxygen if breathing is difficult, 2. Skin: Wash with plenty of soap and water. Remove any contaminated clothing. 3.
