Until the designer's certification of inspection and as -built drawing have been submitted and approved, it will be assumed that the system installed will not function properly and would constitute a health hazard if used for disposal of water -borne wastes. The following items are..brought to your attention for corrections A. There was no permit posted on the site as required. B. The joints at the downstream end of the distribution box and at the end of the first section of drain tile mot be mortared tight. C. Gravel should not be located.closer than two feet from the distribution box. D. The cover on the distribution box was -mortared tight thus eliminating any possibility of inspection. There is an apparent difference in the three outlet elevations of the drain!tile which is questionable practice. E. The system was not installed as shown on the C.R. Lyon engineering drawing as submitted. A scaled as -built drawing is required showing the system locations with regard to the house and property lines. Discrepancies between detail specifications and drawing notes shall be governed by drawing notes,; 2. Septic tank shall meet the minimum County,Health Department specifications for construction and shall be sized as noted on the drawings. 3. Drain Field: Tile: a. 4" diameter minimum b. Slope: Minimum = 2" per 100' 11 Maximum = 6" per 100' C. Open joints: 3/8" and covered -with asphalt paper 4. Gravel: a. Size 1" to 3" washed b. 6" minimum of washed gravel under tile and 2" minimum of washed gravel over tile. c. No gravel within 24" of septic tank or distribution box d. Gravel shall be covered with light untreated paper before backfilling 5. Trench: a. Minimum width: 24" with flat bottom (see drawing for trench width) b. Grade boards, securely staked to trench bottom, for all open joing tile lines. c. Soil cover over gravel. Minimum 12" Maximum 24" d. 6" - 0" minimum center to center spacing. (see drawing) e. Septic tank and distribution box shall be connected with at least 1 piece of 4" bell tile. f. Distribution box shall have 1 piece of 4" bell tile followinq it, for each line of tile. 6. Line from house shall be kept as high as possible and laid on 2% grade. 7. Paving: Do not place impervious surfacing over any part of sewage disposal system. Plant grass an& small shrubs only. 8. Be the joints at the downstream end of the distribution box and at the end of the first section of drain the mast be mortared tight. C. Gravel should not be located closer than two fact from the distribution box. D. The cover on the distrii,ution box was mortared tight thus e3lLainating any possibility of inspection. 'There is an apparent difference in the three outlet elevations of the drain tile Which is questionable practice. L. The system was not installed as shown on the C.R. Lyon engineering drawing as submitted. A scaled as -built drawing is required showing, the system locations with regard to the house and property lines. ATTENTION HOME OWNER: Your septic tank has limitations! It was designed and installed to care for an average -size family. Over- loading the septic tank or disturbance of the drain -field may seriously impair satisfactory operation. Points to remember: 1. Have your tank checked periodically to see if pumping is necessary (2%2-3 years). 2. Do not channel ground water, surface water, footing drains or downspouts into the tank or drainfield. 3. Do not excavate, fill, place a structure, driveway or. patio in, on, or over the drainfield. 4. Limit toilet fixture disposal to sanitary wastes and toilet tissue. 5. Detergents and bleaches used in normal household quantities will not harm the action of the septic tank and disposal field.
