CITY OF LDMONDS
BOARD OF APPEALS
Meeting of June 26, 1972
Present Absent
C. A. McConnachie, Chairman Jack McLellan
Walt Payne Al Albers
Larry. Trent Paul Hauge
Jack Whitely
Harry Whitcutt Building Official
Jack Cooper Fire Chief
Nancy McMillan Secretary
The 'meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Chairman, C. A. McConnachie.
Roll call indicated that there was a quorum.
BA-1-72 D. H. Caryl
Request for a variance from water main a nd fire hydrant
requirements of Ordinance 1568.
Harry Whitcutt explained the Caryl's appeal to the Board of Appeals.
Chief Cooper indicated that the closest water hydrant was the Meadowdale
Country Club which was definitely a handicap in giving fire fighting
assistance at the proposed subdivision site. Ile said, however, that he
was willing to Live approval to the appeal since he considered the require-
ments of Ordinance 1568 to be an undue hardship on Mr. Caryl.
There was an ensuing conversation in which Mr. Caryl indicated disapproval
of the system of requirements which led him to the Board of Appeals. The
I. Board and the Fire Chief endeavored to explain the City's position to him.
Mr. Whitcutt indicated to the Board that he was in favor of granting the
proposed variance.
I. A motion was made by Mr. Whitely and seconded by Mr. Trent that a variance
from Ordinance 1568 be granted to Mr. Caryl. The motion carried unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:16 p.m. by C. A. McConnachie.
