Dear Clark:
on Nov. 6, 1989, we examined with you the site of a SFR Residen-
tial project at Lot 7, Eagle's Nest (Phase I) in Edmonds, Wash-
ington. During the course of the walkover and in the ensuing
discussion we outlined our conclusions, and recommendations; we
confirm this information herewith.
Soil conditions had been revealed by two recent test pitsat the
top of the s ope at the west end of the proposed building site.
These showed the site to be underlain by a thin layer of .fill
and/or softened native soil, beneath which is found the dense
glacial till which will comprise the bearing horizon for the
project. No groundwater was observed in these explorations.
Proposed Constrruction We understand the site it•to be devel-
oped as a single family residence, with a two story plus base-
ment wood -frame residential structure.
Conclusions and Recommendations On the basis of, our examina-
tion o t e circumstances of the project we draw the following
principal conclusions:
1. The site is underlain at comparatively shalln-w depth by
the bearing horizon, a unit of Sense glacial till which is
believed to extend to a depth of several tens of feet.
Excellent support is assured for all proposed foundation
elements.

of this property with respect to the Meadowdale Slide Area.
In complying with this request we have consulted the defin-
itive report on the Meadowdale Slide Area, prepared for the
City of Edmonds by Roger Lowe and Associates, October 16,
1979. The map which accompanies the report shows the
southern boundary of the slide area to be opposite the
northerly end of 76th Place W., north of the Meadowdale
Beach road, and well over 1000 ft from the proposed build-
ing Site, lie take this opportunity to point out that the
"Meadow,dale Slide Area" is an area adjacent to Puget Sound
with a long (1000 years or more) record of intermittent
movement. It measures approximately 3760 ft noxth-sc.uth by
a width of 500 to 800 f.t throughout the greater part of its
length, with a maximum wic -,y of 1 ;06 ft. The slide area is
bounded on the east by a steep scarp composed of :: situ
native overconsolidated soils raving an excellent history
of stability (the same upland on which Eagle's 2e t is
located). We are able to conclude, therefore, that con-
struction sites within. the Eagle'z Nest area are totally
removed both-?h}:sically and geologically from the actual
Meadowdale "Slide Area."

following comments:
1) Construction hours are: WEEKDAYS 7:00am to 10:00pm
WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS 10:00am to 6:00pm
2) A Right -of -Way construction permit is required for any work on
City property.
3) Connection to City water system required.
4) Connection to City sanitary sewer system required; obtain separate
permit.
5) Water and sewer lines to -be separated by 10 foot minimum.,
6) Driveway must be paved a minimum of 20 feet back from City
right-of-way; separate permit required.
7) Driveway slope not to exceed 14%.
