Subject: Water Service Leak April 1998
On August, 13, 1996, the Water Division was notified of a water situation atrw714f,
Afbnue West.," Terry Hanson checked the site near the meter box and the
meter for any indication of a leak on the customer's side. He found no indication
of a leak and presumed the water seen could be a ground water problem. At that
point, he notified the resident of his findings.
On April 6, 1998, the Water Division was again notified of a water situation at the
same location. I inspected the site to find water surfacing near the meter box then
traveling southwest to a small stream via a trench cut in the bank. The water
meter did not indicate a leak on the customer"s side, but after listening to the
meter via sound equipment, a possible lead was detected.
On April 7, 1998, the plastic water service was dug up and replaced with a copper
pipe due to a leak found near its connection to the main line.
