Faghin / David R. Spence 18226 91st Avenue West APR 2 9 1997 Edmonds, WA 98026 IVG//V'cIERINc April 25, 1997 Mr. Jurgen Sauerland Olympic View Joint Venture 19400 33rd Ave. W - Suite 200 Lynnwood, WA 98036 Subject: Four -lot subdivision at 9210 Olympic View Drive Short plat: City of Edmonds File No. S-95-202 Dear Mr. Sauerland: We are writing to you regarding recent landslides and erosion on the above -referenced four -lot subdivision. Since January we have spoken to Jeff Treiber, Mike Dedonker, and people at the City of Edmonds about this issue. Prior to the year-end storm of 1996, your company cut a steep slope on the subdivision along the west side of our property. After the storm, we noticed that property on and below our fence line had both slid and washed away. A portion of our northern neighbor's property slid as well. Despite the hay spread on the area, subsequent storms have brought further erosion. Prior to the grading of the subject site, the ground level below our gate along the western portion of our property was level. The land was generally flat for a distance of approximately 25 feet and then dropped off. The grading of the site cut a steep slope which began at our fence and angled down steeply to a retaining wall. The slope did not hold through the storms and there is now a vertical drop of three to four feet immediately below our fence line. There is also approximately a foot of ground which has washed away from under our gate. See attached photos. Although the fence is still standing, the comer post is now almost completely exposed and we are worried about how the fence will fare in the next few storms. A comer boundary marker for our property has also been undercut and may topple as well. 0 0 Letter to Mr. Jurgen Sauerland Re: Four -lot subdivision at 9210 Olympic View Drive Date:, April 25, 1997 We are very concerned about the potential for further erosion and property damage. We believe the slope needs to be rebuilt and stabilized. We would appreciate your letting us know what steps will be taken to rectify the current problem and to prevent its reoccurrence in the future. Sincerely, Nicole R. Faghin David R.
