Before we can take action on this matter, we need some additional input. Section 18.70.030 of the Edmonds Community Development Code allows the City to issue street use permits if it can be shown that the proposal will not interfere with the rights of the public and if the proposal is in the public interest, safety and convenience. In order to permit you to use the street in the manner you have requested, we need input from each of the neighbors on the street. Apparently, your neighbors to the north may wish to revise thoir driveway entrance at some point in the future, and this may affect some of your landscaping in the city right of way. In addition, we have had contact with your neighbor to the west, across 81st Avenue. This neighbor has strong feelings about use of the street. The City will issue street use permits only if the people affected by use of the street agree about its use. We are requesting that you obtain a written statement from each neighbor on 81st Avenue W. This statement, which can be in the form of a petition which everyone signs, . should indicate that residents have no objection to use of the street as you propose. The City needs to be assured that the proposal will not interfere with the rights of the public and is in the public interest.
