To comply with City requirements I prepared this cover letter to go with calculations for
the grading activities related to the subject project.
Calculations for grading are as demonstrated on the calculation sheets and the plot plan
submitted herewith:
Most house and garage excavations are based on average end areas of the
rectangles involved, as indicated on the calculations sheets. In one case I used the
pyramid equation for quantity calculations. Footings and column support quantities
were calculated also.
Total excavation (184.73 + 50.37 + 5.19 + 14.22 + 17.24 + 10-55 + 56.24 + 16.48 +
20.15)cu yds = 375.17 cu yds. This is a somewhat conservative estimate. Please use
the plot plan as an explanation to the calculations sheets.
