RE: 18708 Olympic View Drive
Address Change
As stated in our earlier letter to you, dated April 28, 1988 (copy
attached) the Building Division was notified by the Utility Billing
Department that the subject address is incorrect.
Chapter 19.80.010 of the Edmonds Community Development Code states,
"All existing numbers and street names not now in conformance with the
provisions of this chapter shall be changed to conform..."
• We advised you that the correct house number for your property is
18707 Olympic View Drive and asked that you post your new house
numbers within 15 days. It has been brought to our attention that the
house address has not been changed and your tenant, Mr. Dent, was
advised that he should take steps to either notify you as owner to do
so, or take the necessary steps himself. At the time of our prior
letter to you, all City departments were notified of this change.
Therefore, all of our records, including Fire Department and utility
records, reflect the change to 18707. This could prove confusing in
a life -safety situation.
We once again ask you to physically change the house numbers on your
property and notify any interested parties outside of the City of the
change. Failure to do so within the next 15 days will result in this
matter being turned over to the Code Enforcement Officer for the City.
If you have any questions you can reach me at 771-3202.
Thank you,

TO: Director of the City Water Department
Dear Director:
During the past three years I have had my water shut off at least
twice for failure to pay a water bill that I have not received.
The last time this happened was last week when I was out of town
and it is disconcerting that such a trivial matter has taken so
long to resolve.
When I inquired the first time some three years ago as to why I
had my water shut off without receiving a bill I was told that
the house in which I lived was numbered incorrectly and that the
correct house number should be 18707 hence no bill even though
the water department employee certainly had no trouble finding it
to shut the water off.
• In checking I find that the City of Edmonds lists 18708 on the
city street sign directly, the Snohomish P.U.D. lists the house
at 18708 as does everyone else. I am told that the address of
the house has been 18708 since 1955 and believe it since the
house numbers are paint encrusted.
I have no quarrel with the City of Edmonds or the water depart-
ment and have appreciated the courteous manner in which the water
department employees have asked for the money, when I happened to
be home, prior to shutting off the water in the past.
As a lawyer for over twenty years it would seem that this rather
simple problem could be corrected by some method other than for a
change of address of the house to conform to your mailing address
which is different than anyone else's. I do have a post office
box in Edmonds if you can send the bill there instead of sending
it to the house.
Please take this under advisement and let me know the recommenda-
tion of your department at your earliest opportunity so that this
matter does not wind up on some court docket. Enclosed is my
check for water services less the $20.00 required for reconnec-
tion.
Very tr y ,
