I appreciate the thoroughness of your concerns for the safety and
licensing requirements of your proposed business. I'd like to
reiterate and add to the points as discussed during our meeting
yesterday.
Contact John Bissell in the City's Planning Division
(771-0220 #224) to discuss the particulars regarding your proposal.
He can give you information and determine the guidelines given for
your particular day-care business. The Business Licensing Clerk
(775-2525) can tell you how to obtain a business- license. City
Department approvals are required and are given in the application
process.
I've enclosed an excerpt from the Life Safety Code. This excerpt
lists the requirements for "Family Day -Care Homes". I believe this
is the most appropriate category for your proposed business. As
you read this, I think you'll find that you meet most or all of
these requirements. One additional item the Fire Department would
request is one 2A:10B:C fire extinguisher mounted on a wall in your
home.
The State requirements you've shown me will be approved by a State
Licensing Official. I think it best to have the State clarify any
questions or concerns you have regarding those requirements.
