Such work is allowed per 23.40.220.C.7.b. An arborist report including a description of the trees and their health, a plot plan, and photographs were submitted. Several trees will remain as snags and some the branches will be left on the slope for habitat. The larger rounds will be removed from the site. It has been established that the property lies Within a critical area. There are 25 to 30 significant trees on the property. Urban Element and the new owner of the property are looking to protect, and improve the health of the larger trees. The property was inherited and has not been maintained for quite some time. I have been working in tree care for the past four years. I am a studying arborist managing a partnership. I have taken two classes for arboriculture an ISA prep class, and an arboriculture class at Lake Washington Tech taught by Brian Gills a consulting arborist. The trees that are proposed for removal are hazards and posing a high risk for failure resulting in personal or property damage. I have marked the trees on site and can be available to meet on site to discuss this project in more detail. I have also included some pictures and a site map of the tree proposed for removal. 1.)Hemlock 11" caliper (DBH) Trunk shows signs of rot on the exterior, because of larger Tsuga trees crowding all the branches are on the house side to the Mertensiana north. 2.)Douglas Fir 14" caliper (DBH) Trunk shows signs of rot on the exterior, also bleeding lots of Psuclotsuga sap, because of larger trees crowding all the branches are on menziesii the house side to the north. 3.)Hemlock 8" caliper (DBH) Because of larger trees crowding all the branches are on the Tsuga house side to the north. Mertensiana 4.)Sweet Gum 8" caliper (DBH) Because of larger trees crowding all the branches are over the Liquidambar 10" caliper (DBH) neighbor's house and driveway. The trunk splits out low and shows sign of rot on the exteror 5.)AIder 9" caliper (DBH) 60 degree lean over the house Alnus 6.)Big Leaf Maple 6" caliper (DBH) Under drip line of larger hemlock no space to grow, all weigh Acer 11" caliper (DBH) and branching heading toward neighbors house macrophyllurn 7.)Big leaf Maple 14" caliper (DBH) Sever damaged limbs from other trees, and Ivy choking the Acer whole tree. Damage occurred on the back side of the tree macrophyllum leaving open wounds and the weight heading north and hanging over the deck Over the next year Urban Element plans to work with the home owner to reestablish the property. We would like to replant using western red cedar, red twig and yellow twig dogwoods, pines and smaller maples. The replanting would be at a minimum of two trees planted for every tree removed.
