Dear Ms. Bristol:

DIRECTOR

The City does not have a scheduled project for resurfacing 83rd Pl.
W. Prior to a project being scheduled, we will solicit input from you
and your neighbors.
The City's basic resurfacing program is for streets with curbs and
gutters and arterial streets to be overlaid with asphalt concrete.
Streets without curbs and gutters are to be oiled and rocked.
Residents on a designated oil and rock road wishing to have an overlay
may pay the cost difference. Depending on the street, the cost
difference ranges from $2.50 to $4.00 per square yard of street surface.
The City is also willing to form a local improvement district (LID) for
those neighborhoods wishing to rebuild their streets and install
sidewalks. The LID cost is typically paid over a ten (10) year period
at an interest rate determined by the sale of bonds. The LID cost,
however, is typically higher due to costs associated with forming an
LID and selling bonds.
In the past, the City's Public Works Superintendent ' Bobby Mills, and
Engineering Coordinator, Gordie Hyde, have offered to meet with the
residents to explain the various options. This offer still stands.
Please feel free to contact either Bobby Mills or Gordie Hyde.
If we can be of any assistance, please call.
Sincerely,
ROBERT J. ALBERTS, P.E.

Re: Proposed Street Resurfacing
We, the undersigned citizens living on 83rd Pl. W. wish to
communicate our concern and resolve to assist In decisions regarding
the kind of treatment used in resurfacing our street.
Of the 18 property owners on 83rd Pl. W., 7 are still the
original purchasers (1962-63). Four other families have lived in
their houses for 23-24 years. We are a stable community working
together to maintain a quality neighborhood in all ways.
We have heard that our street is being evaluated by the city's
engineering department for treatment during the summer of 1990.
Apparently, the decision is to use a "CHIP SEAL" treatment, followed
with a "SLURRY" treatment within one year
We object to any decisions being made without appropriate
citizen/property owner input. We desire what is best for our street.
,A smooth durable resurfacing is our wish. We are willing to do
whatever we must to accomplish it. We realize the city's ownership of
the streets and thus the responsibility of taking care of them.
However, we refuse to be pushed into a position without proper
communication.
