The purpose of the Checklist is to enable
City staff to determine whether any

SUBJECT: Response to Land Use Complaint Dated September 20, 2000
Dear Mr. Vogel,
Your Land Use Complaint form has been forwarded to me for a response regarding vegetation, debris and
saw horses blocking a portion of City right-of-way.
• As confirmed by the Engineering Division and the Public Works Department, this are a of right-
of-way is unimproved and unmaintained by the City at this time.
• As confinned by the Planning Division, none of this night -of -way has been vacated.
As confirmed by the 1992 City of Edmonds Bikeway and Walkway Comprehensive Plan, this
area is proposed as a planned project for a walkway.
As confirmed by the City's Official Street Maps, dedication of right-o f-way is needed to
complete this project.
The City is currently updating the Comprehensive Walkway Plan for the year 2001. This area will be
incorporated into that plan and prioritized along with many other projects within the City. Until the area
has been improved to the standards of a pathway or a walkway and designated as such by those
improvements, this area is considered an unimproved right-of-way and is not maintained by the Public
Works Department.
If you witness littering in the right-of-way, the appropriate course of action is to contact the Police
Department for enforcement. Unfortunately, unimproved right-of-way is not meant for public use.
