MEMORANDUM FOR ALL EDMONDS MAIN POST OFFICE EMPLOYEES
SUBJECT: EMERGENCY EVACUATION ACTION PLAN
EMERGENCY EVACUATION TEAM:
The following employees have been trained to respond to all emergencies:

5. Gary Schwertly
ALARM:
This unit uses an air horn for fire emergencies and a voice alarm for natural disasters to notify
employees of an emergency. This system is tested annualy (at minimum).
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that all employees are properly trained to respond to emergencies; they are
aware of evacuation procedures; gathering points; and reporting procedures.
Evacuate employees to designated assembly areas and groupe by zone or pay location.
After arrival at assembly area, they should be counted and marked in on the roll -call roster.
If an employee is in another part of the building when the alarm sounds, they must be sure.
their supervisor is notified of their whereabouts when they reach an assembly,area.
EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* AT THE SOUND OF THE GENERAL ALARM, AIR HORN OR VOICE:
Stop work
Walk to assigned emergency exit
Proceed to assembly area
UPON REACHING ASSEMBLY AREA:
Report your name to the supervisor or designated lead person
Follow instructions
Remain in area
* UPON "ALL CLEAR" SIGNAL:
0 Proceed back to work area in a safe and orderly manner and continue working.

EMERGENCY EVACUATION TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Direct employees to proper exits and assembly areas.
* Turnoff assigned equipment.
+ Perform assigned emergency duties; check offices and restrooms, ensure that fire doors and
windows are closed, etc.
EMPLOYEE TRAINING:
* Employees shall be trained to safely evacuate the building and assemble in a specified area.
# Selected personnel shall be trained to be familiar with the complete layout of the facility and
various alternative routes of escape.
* A sufficient number of employees shall be trained to use the fire extinguishers.
* Fire drills will be conducted annually.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM:
# All members will receive annual fire extinguisher training.
* The chain of command will be followed for the organization of all response teams, including all
rescue and medical duties required.
* Primary Duties:
Ensure the safe evacuation of all employees from the building.
Ensure that a clear line of communication is established and maintained.
* Communicate with arriving emergency personnel.

* Geographical maps of the Edmonds Main Post Office will be posted at each exit and at each
time clock.
* Each map is marked with "you are here" and shows alternate exit routes from that point.
* Maps also show placement of fire alarms, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, the "right -to -know"
station, MSDS books, and spill kits.
