The rational method will be use * d to calculate the design.flows and a
retention basin will be designed for this short plat.
SITE INFORMATION
Area = 0.76 acre
Topography: The existing ground slopes atapproximately 14% in a northwesterly
direction. A small amount of grading for building foundations is
expected, but no mass grading.
Site Condition: Lot A has an existing residence with mostly lawn cover. The
other two lots are heavily forested. The soil consists of
Alderwood gravelly sandy loam.
CALCULATIOtJ INFORMATION
Only the area of Lots B and C will be used in this drainage calculation.
Lot A is already developed and will not be affected in any way. The alderwood
gravelly sandy loam was found to percolate very well and therefore, drywells
will be used to detain all flow from roofs and pavement with no concentrated
flow allowed off -site.

Use 3/4" plus gravel in drywell, which yields 30% voids.

PERCOLATION INFORMATION
Two perc holes were dug in the vicinity of the proposed sumps. Data indi-
cates a percolation rate of 20 to 3� ft.3/day per ft.2 of area. The alderwood
gravelly sandy lo'am was loosely packed and perced very readily.
CHECK
As a check on the percolation rate quantities in relation to percolation
surface area required, the following exfiltration calculation is provided.
