Upon Review of City Codes, your residence has been billed incorrectly
for water and sewer charges at only a single family dwelling unit rate.
Since you have more than one dwelling unit within this house, we will
be billing your residence for multi -dwelling units at a rate of
$7.38/unit for water plus consumption and $36.20 for utility charges
per dwelling unit.
Please see the attached regarding water and sewer rates, Chapter 7.30

7.30.010 DEFINITIONS
A. The term "dwelling unit" means a building or portion
thereof providing Complete housekeeping facilities for
one family.
B'. The terra I'single7family residence,, means a detached
building -containing one dwelling unit only.

C. The term "duplex" means a building, Occupying a'lot,
containing two dwelling units.
D. The term "apartment houses" and other I'multiple units"
(except hotels, tourist courts, trailer parks, and
motels) means a building or buildings used for and
containing three or more dwelling units occupied on
weekly or monthly basis. Units rented. -on a weekly or
monthly basis shall not be deemed to,b.e tourist courts
or motels.
E. The term "hotels" means any place with individual room's
rented on a daily or weekly basis.
F. The term "tourist courts" and the term "motels" means
detachedil.multiple units, occupied and paid for on a
daily basis.

B. Variable Rate. In addition to the base rate, set forth
above, there shall be an additional charge to the
customer at the rate of $.86 per 100 cubic feet of water
consumed.
C. Meter Installation Charges.

3. When approved by the city engineer, new service

D. Connection charge. A connection charge of two hundred
dollars shall be made to each new customer connecting to
the city water system, except for the water mains

of any applicable taxes.
F. Consumption Surcharge. All customers shall pay . an.
additional surcharge in the amount of 5-3/4 percent of
the base rate and varia ' ble rate for water as.set forth

department for that purpose, and shall contain the name and
description of 'the lot, block and addition. The applicant
shall state the purposes for which the water is to be used
and shall agree to conform to the ordinances, rules, and
regulations, with modification which may be adopted, as a
condition for use of water. [Ord. 2214 §1, 1981; Ord. 2139,
§3, 1980; Ord. 413 §9, 19291.
7.10.020 ACCOUNTS - PAYMENTS
All accounts shall be kept on the books of the' water
division in the name of the owner, and all charges shall be
made against the property as well as the owner thereof'. No
change of ownership or occupancy shall affect the iipplica'
tion of this section. All bills are payable within 25 days
from the billing date. Flat rates are payable in advance.
If water bills are not paid within a stated period, the
water may be shut off. Water will be turned on after
payment of the fees as set forth in Section 7.10.070, in
addition to the amount of delinquent charges. [Ord. 2214
§2, 1981; Ord�. 2139 §4, 1980; Ord. 1942 41, 1977; Ord. 1385
§1, 1968; Ord. 1082 §1, 1965 Ord. 821, 1960; Ord. 413 §10,
1929).
7.10.030 SUSPENSION OF WATER USE - PROCEDURE
A. Should a customer desire to discontinue the use of water
for a period of more than thirty days, notice thereof
must be given in writing to the water division. The
water will then be shot off and turned on again on
written application without extra charge, but no
remission -of charges will be made without the notice
prescribed in this section.
B. Should the customer desire to discontinue the use of
water for any period less than thirty days, written
notice thereof must be given to the water division. The
customer shall be required to pay the charges as set
forth in
.Section 7.10.070. (Ord. 1942 §2, 1977; Ord.
1448, 1969; Ord. 4.13 §17, 1929].
7.10-040, ACCESS TO BUILDINGS
Employees of the water division shall have access during
business hours to all parts of buildings to which water may
be delivered from the city mains for the purpose of
ascertaining the number of rooms and families in the house
or inspecting the conditions of the pipes and.fixtures and
the manner in which water is used. (Ord. 413 §19, 1929).
