Chief Klein pointed out that the City of Edmonds had also adopted the Uniform
Fire Code by ordinance. Article 35 of the UFC rates rubber goods as very high
hazard materials and all the members agreed with him that rubber goods burn
very hot.
Section 35.105 (a) - An automatic sprinkler system shall be required in each
building or portion of a building used for the storage of high piled combustible
stock when the area exceeds two-thirds of the sum of the basic floor area and
the allowable increases for such building as specified In the Building Code.
Mr. Mangan stated that stores of this type in Seattle do not have sprinklers,

and Chief Klein stated that the Seattle Fire Code is not nationally recognized.
Mr. Anderson stated that they had tried to do everything they could to comply
with the City requirements. They had made changee� and were very sincere in
their efforts to provide the City with everything that had been asked of them.
He questioned why this problem came up at this late date in their building

would have been made before this time if they had seen the plans as presented
