RE: Sound Transit Interim Improvements and Initial Operations of Sounder North
High
This is important and we need to get this service started. Here's what we can do. I will assemble a plan review team to
meet first thing Monday morning. That team will complete the initial review Monday morning. If there are corrections or
questions that need answering, we will send them to the applicant Monday afternoon. If there are none we could get the
permit ready to issue as early as late Monday or early Tuesday morning.
What we need from the applicant is a guarantee that they will respond to corrections no later than Tuesday morning by 10
a.m., if there are any. I propose the core team to be:
Engineering - Lyle
Building - Ann
Planning - Rob
Fire - John Westfall (Should be minor review)
Design review will have to be administratively done by staff and not the ADB. Darrell will need to look at traffic but won't
need to spend a lot of time. If the improvements are the same that they showed us about a month ago there shouldn't be
a big impact on Public Works. If Lyle identifies something in the review, we will go directly to Public Works for a response.
Thanks,
Duane

Duane,
Paul Companski called from Sound Transit to announce that this past weekend, BNSF and Sound
Transit executed the 1 st Train Agreement related to interim operations for Sounder North. In order to
meet a December 22, 2003 service date, Sound Transit wants to submit a check to the City this Friday
(Nov 21), and be able to begin work on November 28th. I mentioned that we have Thursday and
Friday off which means our staff would have to review the plans by Nov 26. Is this possible? I am to
call Paul back today with an answer.
Stephen
