SUBJECT: RESPONSE TO LETTER REGARDING TRAFFIC SIGNAL
Dear Ms. Hager:
Your letter dated November 30, 1995 was forwarded to this Division (Engineering) for
review. There has been a plan to install a signal at 80th Ave. and 212th St. for a number
of years. The project was identified in the City's most recent Six Year Transportation
Improvement Plan for construction in the year 2001. The Six Year Plan is updated each
spring. -
If you wish to discuss the project further, I suggest you contact Gordy Hyde, who is
responsible for updating the Plan. Please call me or Gordy at 771-0220 if you have any
questions.

CITY COUNCIL
On November 21, 1995, at the corner of 212th and 80th at
approximately 6:45 a.m. while waiting for the bus, myself and
other commuters witnessed two women crossing the street in
the crosswalk almost hit by a van traveling east on 212th.
The women were in the middle of the street when the van had
to swerve to avoid hitting them. People apparently can't
tell there is a crosswalk and do not slow down for
pedestrians. Kids going to school also cross this street to
catch the school bus. I hope it doesn't take somebody
getting killed for something to be done about this.
The purpose of this letter is to request that a traffic
signal. be installed. This is a dangerous street to cross.
Most people will not stop to let pedestrians cross the
street. Myself and others need to cross this street in the
evening after returning home from work. Now we know how
it chickens" feel when they need to cross the road. We have a
difficult time crossing the street.
Please acknowledge the receipt of this letter. I would
also like to have some answers and solutions to this
dangerous situation.
