In response to the conversation we had regarding your desire to fill the drainage
swale along 216"' St SW, I spoke with Mike Johnson, Storm Lead at Public Works. He
visited the site to determine the condition and functionality of the swale. The swale along
your property on 216"' is a functioning swale. As it is currently performing adequately,
there is no need for the City to make any changes at this time.
If you decided you would like to do the work yourself, then drainage tile would
have to be installed. The process to get approval for this work would be to submit a
completed right of way application and 3 copies of drawing(s) (hand drawn are fine)
showing the proposed work. The application would be reviewed within three weeks.
One requirement of working in the right of way is that the work must be performed by a
Washington State licensed and bonded contractor.
