The Board of Appeals meeting was called to order at 7:45 P.M. by

Chairman Tuson. The meeting had been delayed fifteen minutes

waiting for applicant to appear. No one was present on behalf of
Center.

Chairman Tuson asked for a report on the request by Home Builders

from W. J. Slabaught Building Official. Report was given stating
the requirements of the 1964 Uniform Building Code. Discussion
followed with all members participating and at 7:49 Chairman Tuson
malde a motion that the request of Home Builders Center be denied.

We hereby request a variance in the building code in regard to the

area of a commercial building we wish to build at 216th and
Hiway 99, in your city. * intend to use this ourselves for the sale

Our reason for asking this variance is that approximately two years

ago, we inquired and were informed that the allowable area under the

existing circumstances was 24,000 square feet. We therefore had plans

drawn for a building considerable less in area. After arranging for a

loan based on our plans, we were informed that the largest we would be

allowed was 21,000 souare feet without sprinkleving. This is 300 square

feet less than the interior of our proposed building. Since making

changes would entail redrawing plans, and resubmitting to the loaning
agency for t1lieir acceptance, this would create considerable time and

As you no doubt realize, with the excessive activity in the building

industry, contractors and mechanics are increasingly difficult to obtain,
and consequently costs are mounting rapidly. �M at present have contract-
