TAMPER -RESISTANT FEATURE The I, Series detectors include a tamper -resistant feature that prevents removal from the mounting base without the use of a tool. To engage the tamper-re- sistan' feature, cut the small plastic tab located on the mounting base (Figure 2). and then install the detector. To remove the defector from the base once it has been made tamper resistant, use a small screwdriver to depress the square tamper release tab, located on the skin of the mounting baise, and turn the detector counterclockwise. C. DIRECT HEAT METHOD (MODELS 2WT-6 AND 4WF43 ONLY) Using a 1000- 1500 watt hair dryer, direct the heat toward either of the thermis- lots. Hold the heat source about 12 inches from the detector to avoid damage to the plastic. NOTE: For the above tests, the detector will met only after the power source has been momentarily interrupted. If a delector tails any of the above test methods. its wiring should be checked and it should be cleaned as outlined in the Maintenance section. If the detec- tor mill fails.,I should be replaced. Notify the proper authorities when the system is back in service. LOOP VERIFICATION (MODELS 2W-B AND 2WT-B ONLY) Loop verification is provided by the EZ Walk loop test feature. This feature is for use with 1' 5 ties compatible control panels or the P Series 2W-MOD2 module only. The 2 Walk [nap test verifies the initiating Imp wiring and provides visual status indication at each detector. 1. Ensure proper witing and power is applied. Press down firmly until the screen/sensing chamber is fully seated. 6. Repbce the detector criver by placing it over the mocen/sensing chamber and turning it clockwise until it snaps into place. The test was to determine if the sounding devices meet the cur- rent audibility standards. The minimum requirements are 60 decibels or 15 decibels over ambient sound levels which are greater than 45 decibels. The decibel level recorded from the bedroom of Unit #209 was 70 decibels, a passing level. The secondary battery power supply is no longer functional and no longer complies with National Fire Protection Association Stan- dard 72A. This deficiency will have to be corrected to bring your system into compliance. Also, as stated in the letter dated May 26, 1982, emer- gency lighting must be provided for all hallways and stairways. The previous letter.also stated that approved self -closing devices will be required for all doors opening into a common hallway.
