After our discussion at Olson's on Saturday, July 1, regarding your sewer backup
system, I spoke with Mr. Paul Mar, Community Services Director, and Mr. Noel Miller,
Public Works Superintendent, to make sure the City staff was following through on
your problem.
My understanding is that you made a claim to the City for reimbursement of costs
incurred while attempting to clear your sewer service line. City staff along, with the
City's insurance claims representative reviewed your claim and could not find any
.evidence to indicate that the City was responsible for the backup of your sewer. At the
same time, you are not aware of anything you have done on your property that would
have caused the blockage.
I also understand that the City Public Works crews spent a good part of a day exposing
your sewer line and clearing out the debris which caused the blockage. There was no
conclusive evidence of who was responsible for the blockage. However, the City will
absorb these labor and equipment costs.
At this point, I have to rely on the decision of the City's insurance company not to pay
your claim. However, should any additional evidence or information regarding the
cause of the blockage come forth, I will make sure your claim is reconsidered.
