Thank you for your letter of September 9, 2006 stating your safety concerns at this
intersection.
Your letter was forwarded to Don Sims, City Traffic Engineer for review. Don and I
agree that a sidewalk should be added in the future along the north side of Edmonds
Street and connect with the exiting sidewalk along the east side of Fifth Avenue North.
There is currently a list of sidewalks that are needed in Edmonds. This one will be
added and prioritized according to established criteria.
Due to low vehicular volumes and speeds at this intersection, stop signs and a marked
crosswalk are not warranted at this time.
If you have further questions or want to pass on your observation regarding this
intersection during city events, I suggest you contact Don Sims at 425-771-0220.
