Dear Mr. Dye:
We have prepared this letter in response to a request by Mike Snook, Building Inspector for the
City of Edmonds. He requested that we prepare this letter as a summary of our foundation
evaluations for building lots at the Lincoln Estates project. We, as Nelson-Couvrette and
Associates, have previously prepared a geotechnical report for the site dated December 20, 1999.
Foundation subgrade evaluations for individual lots began on March 14, 2002 (Field Report #19)
and ended on May 30, 2003 (Field Report #37). During the project, we visited the site and
evaluated the foundation subgrades for Lots I through 12, 14, 15, 17 through 20, and 24 through
27. These site visits, along with our foundation evaluations and, where necessary, our
recommendations for foundation subgrade improvement, are documented in Field Reports 19, 20,
22 through 3 1, and 3 3 through 3 7.
Provided that our recommendations were followed, it is our opinion that the foundation subgrade
soils for the evaluated lots should provide a bearing capacity of 2,500 pounds per square foot for
the planned single-family residences.
