Graf Building Official Dear Ms. Graf - I am writing in response to your correspondence with Mr. Mark Corley, of May 19, 2004. With respect to the alleged unpermitted Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), an alleged violation of Section 16.20 of the Edmonds Community Development Code, in the garage portion of his residence, Mr. Corley wishes to agree that if the inspection to be conducted on June 15, 2004, reveals the home is configured to accommodate two separate -dwelling units, he will sign an ADU Covenant acknowledging that only one family may reside in the home. Regarding the remodeling of the garage into habitable space, Mr. Corley has agreed that he will submit to the City, a building permit application, floor plan and section view of the remodeled area, and permit fees by June 1, 2004. Mr. Corley agrees that he will correct any code deficiencies noted during the inspection within 30 days of the inspection. Mr. Corley- contacted Don Millar, Supervisor for the Electrical Section, Washington State Department of Labor & Ind-ustries, Electrical Permits Certification & Inspections, Everett Office (729 100th Street, S.E. Everett, Washington 98208) as well as Ralph Hardesy, Electrical Inspector, Washington State Department of Labor &. Industries, Electrical Permits Certifications and Inspections, of the same office. Both Millar and Hardesy told him that the Department of Labor &, Industries, Electrical Division only keeps records of electrical permits, certifications, and inspections for the last ten to fifteen years. Mr. Millar and Mr. Hardesy told Mr. Corley that assuming the remodeling work ' done at 23805 79th Avenue West Edmonds, Washington 98026 was performed at.least eighteen years ago, the Department of Labor & Industries has no records for the electrical component of the remodeling work at issue. Mr. Corley agrees to resolve any outstanding electrical work violations found at inspection with the Department of Labor May 27, 2004 Page Two Industries, Electrical Division prior to final approval granted by the City of Edmonds. With respect, to the alleged unpermitted Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), an alleged violation of Section 16.,20 of the Ed * monds Community Development Code, in the garage portion of his residence, Mr. Corley wishes to schedule an inspection and verification by City personnel with your office. This inspection and verification is subject to the following conditions: (1) That the inspection take place on June 15, 2004 at a time of your choosing, as Mr. Corley will be out of town between May 20 and May 25, 2004, and will be busy at the beginning of June, 2004, (2) that Mr. Corley be present at all times during the inspection, (3) that in accordance with Oliver Spencer's phone conversation with Mr. Michael Thies, Code Enforcement Inspector, of May 10, 2004, upon a finding that only one family is living in the home, that no Accessory Dwelling Unit permit application will be required or fees of any kind assessed against Mr. Corley for a violation of Section 16.20. With respect to obtaining a remodeling permit, Mr. Corley has agreed to submit a building permit application form and to * allow an inspection of his home within 30 days of the issuance of such a permit subject to the following conditions: (1) That the inspection take place on June 15, 2004 at a time of your choosing, as Mr. Corley will.be out of town between May 20 and May 25, 2004, and will be busy at the beginning of June, 2004, that Mr. Corley be present at all times during the inspection, (3) that the scope of the inspection be limited only to the garage portion of his residence, which Mr. Corley believes to be the southwesternmo . st.two rooms of the.ground level of his home,.(4) that the absolute minimum amount of sheetrock be removed to verify stud wall Ms. Jeannine L.
