We have received a complaint that the vegetation on the southeast comer of your property is making it difficult for drivers on 241" Place SW to see to the north along 100th Avenue West. Specifically, the ivy hedge is creating a severe sight distance problem. City of Edmonds staff has investigated the matter and deter -mined that the hedge in question does, in fact, create a sight distance hazard per Edmonds Community Development Code (ECDC), Street Obstructions, Chapter 9.25 (copy enclosed). In order to reduce the hazard and enhance public safety, the City of Edmonds directs that you remove or cut back the ivy to a height of not more than one foot between the existing neighborhood sign and the utility pole to the north. The City does appreciate the efforts that you have made in keeping the vegetation trimmed for sign visibility, however, the existing sight distance hazards require more aggressive trimming to assure motorist safety. Please complete the modification and trimming by January 6, 2006. Your cooperation in bringing your vegetation into compliance is appreciated. Please feel free to call me with any questions at 425-771-0220, Ext. 170 1. Moppins 24115 - 101 st Ave. W. Edmonds, WA 98020 Subject: Site restrictions at 24115 - 101st Ave. W. Mr. and Ms. Moppins: y,,J--pJ P A q /? 7 According to the records of the Snohomish County Assessor, you are the owner of the subject property. The City Engineer has received notification that the landscaping on the 100th Ave. side of the property restricts sight distance for drivers. It appears that the landscaping is low growing and is trimmed regularly and, in fact, may have been recently trimmed. The problem is both the height of the vegetation above the retaining wall, as well as how it extends out over the walkway. Your cooperation in trimming the vegetation down -to bare ground within two feet of the wall and bare wood on the face of the wall is appreciated. Our Public Works maintenance crew will be directed to do the trimming if the work is not completed by September 2, 1997. If there are any questions, do not hesitate to contact Gordy Hyde at 771-0220, extension 325. Sincerely, )Zl e. *J4 James C'.
