Dear Jamal,
We.haVe.mpde ' several attempts to have the City of Edmonds help us control the
traffi C - on -92 nd' AV,Wesf-a'hd'242 nd 7 !,We asked you to come to our home and take
a . look at the.stre6ts. We asked you -to watch a video that we took to validate the
steady flow of traffic on this narrow street. You were concerned, but felt there
was not a speeding problem and there was not much you could do. We feel
there is a speeding problem and would like to have it monitored by the speeding
machines. You need to check the speed from down the hill not at the 90 degree
corner.
The street, 92 nd AV West, was never intended to be a through street. It was for
local traffic only for the four homes that were at the end of street. The county
issued building permits about 10 years ago. Then another building contractor
opened and paved 242 nd Street that has an illegal steep grade and creates
another problem, when it rains and snows. This area has become a short cut for
everyone. We have 18 wheelers, school buses, trucks; construction vehicles,
moving vans, not to mention the automobiles, vans, and motorcycles. The short
cut is from'244 1h to Hwy. 104 (Edmonds Way) and Hwy. 99.7he video,proved

Some other problems are the streets have become a walking area for the local
residents and it is not safe. The noise and pollution of so many automobiles
have become a factor. Three years ago the county installed 25 mile speed signs
on 92nd and 240th and warning signs for the sharp corner at our request. The
speed limit is exceeded by most drivers. Since we have been annexed to the
City of Edmonds, we have not had the double yellow lines painted on either
street.
Jamal, your concern is appreciated. This area needs more than concern. You
asked what you could do. Here are some suggestions. Speed bumps, 4 stop
signs at the corner of 92"dand 242nd. Put up chicanes on 242rd Keep the double
lines painted. Speed patrolled by police once in a while, preferably at peak
times. Our personal suggestion would be to make it a dead end street.
We realize that the problems on these streets were not created by the city but by
the county. The fact remains we definitely have problems here and need the
City of Edmonds help.
